STEM research as a service

The Official Materials Testing Institute (AMPA) of the University of Kassel is a certified testing laboratory according to the State Building Code for monitoring the placement of concrete of monitoring classes 2 and 3 (ÜK II / ÜK III). It offers third-party monitoring in accordance with DIN 1045-3:2012-03 "Structures made of concrete, reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete - Part 3: Construction".

The services of the department of construction informatics consist of relational and object-oriented databases, document management, workflow management as well as
Collaborations in engineering projects in networked environments.

As an external offer, an annual laboratory training for sewage plant personnel takes place in coordination with the DWA. For private and public clients, individual questions can be dealt with using extensive equipment. Analyses of drinking water, water, wastewater and sludge samples are carried out according to standardized procedures.

The Department of Resource Management and Waste Engineering has extensive equipment of measuring instruments and systems for operational and laboratory measurements, which can also be made available for external services. In addition, various test rigs can be used for model experiments on a laboratory and/or pilot plant scale. Powerful software tools support the creation of comprehensive material flow models for economic and ecological evaluations and optimizations of processes and products.

The Department of Surveying at the Institute of Transportation develops geometry-oriented spatial information. We are a scientific service provider for many areas in the university as well as for external clients.

Our services consist of consulting and preparation of expert opinions regarding construction contract-related compensation issues, performance changes as well as contract and execution models. We also provide advice on project organization and management tools for the execution of turnkey construction projects.

As a service provider for public and private clients, the Geotechnical Engineering Department carries out soil and rock mechanics laboratory tests, field tests, model tests and numerical simulations.
For this purpose, the department has extensive experimental research facilities in several laboratories and two test halls.

The existing good laboratory infrastructure enables the Department of Solid Construction to act as a competent service provider for questions concerning masonry, concrete, reinforced concrete, steel fiber concrete, prestressed concrete or even combinations of these materials.

At the Department of Transportation Planning and Systems, IT-supported tools have been developed within the framework of research projects and made available to interested users free of charge.

As a state testing body according to EKVO Hessen, we have the task of carrying out tests of flow meters on wastewater treatment plants and of throttle systems on stormwater overflow basins for the plant operators who are subject to testing. We are constantly developing our test methods on a scientific basis.

The central laboratory of the IKI is available to all members of the institute for work in the field of materials research and testing as well as component testing. The facilities can also be used for the training of students within the framework of teaching. In addition, there is the possibility for internal and external clients to benefit from the facilities of the central laboratory.
